Jennifer's WWI: Life in a Trench Site

FIGHTING IN THE TRENCHES.

Fighting in a trench wasn't the prettiest of sites. It was severly unsanitary and a dirty environment. There would be grenades that would be thrown, thus leaving many wounded and quite a number of dead soldiers. Soldiers were subject to artillery shells which most likely ended up deafening them. In some instances, men found themselves having to fight with their hands unexpectedly. World War One is known for fighting in the worst of conditions. The most terrible wounds resulted in amputations and terrible bacteria infections. Gas Gangrene, was an injury that usually occured on the leg, and would turn the whole leg green and swollen as it decomposed. Poison gas, was another technique used from both sides which resulted in crucial death.
